EDF Outdoor Recreation Centre Outfitting 2023-2024
The DCA is working to outfit the newly constructed EDF Outdoor Recreation Centre with furnishings and sporting equipment
Purpose: to outfit the EDF Outdoor Recreation Centre with furnishings and sporting equipment so it can be utilized to its fullest potential by community members. The DCA wants to offer a variety of options for all seasons so the space is versatile and meets the needs of a broad range of patrons.

August 15, 2022 - March 1, 2023 - Quotes received for furniture, sporting equipment, installation, and sundry items
March 10, 2023 - Cypress County advised they will be putting 2 permanent bathrooms into the facility, site visit for location occurred.
April 3, 2023 - Cypress County Recreation Board Grant Application Submitted
May 17, 2023 - 2 bathroom units arrived on site, Industrial Backhoes began excavation for in-ground tank
May 17, 2023 - Elite Electrical hooked up bathroom units (lights and fans)
May 19, 2023 - Cypress County approved $27,800 capital recreation grant funding to cover tables & chairs, hockey nets, pickleball nets, line marking, and the cold storage container
May 26, 2023 - Construction of the EDF Outdoor Recreation Centre completed
June 1, 2023 - 40' storage container ordered
July 17th, 2023 - Industrial Backhoe finished running water line to tank area, leveled and tamped pad for sea can on south side of Skate Shack.
July 21, 2023 - 40' Sea can was delivered to site and put in place to store sporting equipment and furniture
July 31, 2023 - 20 x 5' round tables, 20 x 8' rectangle tables, and 60 chairs were ordered from Uline.
August 2, 2023 - Fridge and freezer ordered from Home Depot
August 8, 2023 - Freezer arrived from Home Depot
August 14, 2023 - Tables and chairs delivered from Uline. A group of 7 volunteers unboxed and loaded everything into storage on one of the hottest days of the year - 35 degrees!
August 19, 2023 - Fridge arrived from Home Depot (was damaged upon arrival and returned for refund)
August 29, 2023 - Hockey nets and pickleball nets purchased from Source for Sports
September 6, 2023 - DCA Board of Directors voted to hold off additional spending until Spring 2024, as the 2024 Rec Grant is a matching grant, and we need the remaining funds on hand to be able to apply for enough funds to proceed with the basketball court.
January 23, 2024 - Large up-right cooler purchased from Chef Supplies.
February 22, 2024 - Upright cooler was delivered to the skate shack.
May 27, 2024 - Met with Loren from Elite Electrical, Trevor from Sabre Security, and Troy from Al's Audio at the rink to coordinate the installation of 3 additional cameras and a speaker system at the rink. Work is scheduled to start the week of June 3-7.
May 22, 2024 Basketball hoops were installed at the EDF Outdoor Recreation Centre. Ray Lamont, Lash Phillips, Robert Cody Girling, and Jeff Drescher volunteered to dig the holes, and Cody also donated the use of his skid steer to help raise the poles.
May 24, 2024 - Cypress County approved $14,985.72 capital recreation grant funding to match the DCA's funding raised to cover basketball hoops and the new dugouts.
June 15, 2024 Electrical for cameras and speakers completed by Loren from Elite Electrical
June 20, 2024 Sabre Security finished installation of 3 additional cameras in the rink
June 20, 2024 The DCA posted on our website and social media that video surveillance is now active in both the outdoor rink and parking lot. 2 signs were ordered to hang in the facility.
June 22, 2024 Speaker system was installed by Al's Audio
September 6, 2024 Twenty folding benches were purchased by the DCA for seating at events and at the rink
September 23, 2024 DCA Board of Directors voted to frame in and heat a 10x10' section of the sea can to create warm storage.
October 5, 2024 Framing and insulation of 10x10' space in sea can complete
October 21, 2024 Electrical rough-ins completed by Elite Electrical, walls were sheeted with plywood, installation of heater, light, and plugs completed.

December 3, 2024 Rink liner purchased by the DCA
January 29, 2025 Concept Plumbing met at rink to take measurements and provide quote to replace both toilets to CRA certified back outlet units
February 24, 2025 Concept Plumbing Ltd finished install of new toilets at the rink
March 20, 2025 Six 8' rectangle tables and sub-zero line tape were purchased from Uline to supplement the inventory we have, and to be used for outlining the pickleball and basketball courts this Spring
March 21, 2025 Shipment arrived from Uline with tables and line tape
May 3, 2025 Pickleball and basketball line tape installed in the rink
May 3, 2025 Project Complete
