Dunmore Outdoor Rink Project 2022
The DCA is working to replace the existing outdoor rink into a multi-use Outdoor Recreation Facility:
Purpose: to combine the needed outdoor rink repairs with the provision of a covered shelter with shade and picnic tables for residents to use as a central gathering site during community events, and for individual use by families and people enjoying the park and/or (future) pump track in the summer months.
This all-season, multi-use space can be used for community fundraisers, dances, outdoor movies, kids’ programs, local clubs, and as the central hub for Dunmore Days. Covering the rink will also protect and extend the ice, make ongoing maintenance easier, and will both enhance the use of and revitalize this community recreational resource. The roof will also protect the financial investment into new rink boards and will significantly reduce the level of decay due to weather over time.

Steps:
1. Fundraising - grants, corporate sponsors, community fundraising events
2. Remove old rink boards and asphalt
3. Excavate and pour 14 foundations for overhead roof
4. Pour new 6405sq ft concrete pad
5. Install new custom rink boards with cell cast acrylic shielding puck containment system
6. Erect 66'x110' pre-engineered structure (open-sided)
Old Rink to be removed:

The current outdoor rink is 53’x97’ and sits on an asphalt pad that was placed approx. 20 years ago. The asphalt is pocked, cracked, uneven, and makes flooding and maintaining the rink extremely difficult. The boards are likewise approximately 20 years old and have succumbed to weather and general wear from extended use.
